Why Snapizzi limits batch sizes to 500 images

Updated this week

Uploading images to Snapizzi is an additive process. This means that you won't overwrite any images if you are uploading in batches. They are simply added to the existing images in the project. Due to the complexities involved in handling large datasets, we have set a limit of 500 images per batch. This number is carefully chosen based on several key considerations:

Upload Stability: Uploading a very high number of images at once can lead to complications. If an issue occurs during such a large upload, pinpointing the exact point of failure and determining which files were not uploaded successfully can be challenging.

Error Handling: While our system is adept at catching duplicate uploads, it is not infallible in detecting files that fail to upload altogether. Smaller batches reduce the risk and complexity of such issues.

Recovery Ease: Smaller batches ensure that if something goes wrong, you can comfortably manage and recover from the interruption without extensive troubleshooting or loss of data.

Optimal Batch Size: Through testing and feedback, we've determined that 500 images represent a practical upper limit that balances efficiency with user convenience and system reliability.

How to Upload Photos in Batches:

  1. Prepare Your Batches: Organize your images into batches of up to 500. This helps in managing uploads more effectively and ensures that each batch processes efficiently.

  2. Upload Each Batch: Select and upload each batch separately. This method provides a clearer overview of your upload progress and helps isolate any issues that might arise.

  3. Monitor and Verify: After each batch upload, verify the status in the project dashboard. Ensure all images have uploaded correctly before proceeding to the next batch.

Tips for Successful Batch Uploads:

  • Ensure that the time on your camera is set properly so timestamps are accurate in the image file EXIF data.

  • Ensure stable internet connectivity during uploads to minimize disruptions.

  • Keep a structured file system on your device to ease the batch creation and re-upload processes if needed.

  • Use Snapizzi's tracking features to monitor the progress and completion of each batch.
