Smart Keyframes – Time-Based Indexing Without Codes (Volume Workflow Tool)

High-Volume Photography Workflow: Eliminate Shooting Codes with Snapizzi's Smart Keyframe – Clock Sync for Single-Camera Schools, Sports & Dance Events

📌 Note: The Smart Keyframe feature is currently an authorized module. If you don’t see it in your Paperless interface, contact us to have it enabled on your account.

At this time, the Smart Keyframe feature can only be used with single-camera Data projects. And "Ignore Camera Identification" must be toggled on.

The Smart Keyframe feature lets you skip shooting code cards entirely by using time-based indexing to match your photos to the correct series in Snapizzi.

When using Snapizzi Paperless, simply press the Smart Keyframe button at the start of each subject or group, take your photos, and upload them as usual.

Snapizzi will then automatically group the photos using precise time synchronization between your camera and your Paperless device.

How it Works:

Step #1: Once your subject code is located, press the "Magic Keyframe" button in Paperless to start a new series. Snapizzi records a “Magic Keyframe” using your device’s local time (no photo taken).
Step #2: A red overlay will appear and the card will toggle to "Used" to confirm the keyframe has been created. Take your subject photos as usual — no code cards required.

Important Requirements

Don't create the next Smart Keyframe until you've completed taking your current subject/group photos.

For reliable results, time synchronization is critical:

  • Sync your camera clock with your Paperless device’s clock.

  • The closer the sync, the better. A few seconds difference is fine, but problems occur if:

    • The Smart Keyframe time happens after any subject photos.

    • The next Smart Keyframe happens before the last photo of the previous set.

If errors occur, use our Repair Tools to resolve them.

Resetting Projects with Smart Keyframe

If you ever need to reset your project when using Smart Keyframe, don’t worry—your keyframes are safe. Resetting only removes the uploaded subject photos. Any keyframes you’ve already created will remain in place, so you can just re-upload project images.
