How to Use Your Pixnub Sports Photo Automation (SPA) CSV with Snapizzi

Updated yesterday

Pixnub is an industry leader in automation software for the school and sports photography industry. Their plugins for Adobe Photoshop streamline the creation of school class composites, sports composites, memory mates, and virtual teams. They also offer ready‑to‑use graphics and templates specifically designed to work with their automation tools.

The Sports Photo Automation (SPA) Plugin by Pixnub uses CSV data to automate Photoshop templates—replacing and scaling text, swapping backgrounds, adding logos or team images, and more.

If you already use Pixnub, your CSV file is formatted exactly the way Snapizzi needs it. You can import it directly into Snapizzi, process your images, and then export the updated CSV back to Pixnub—no extra setup required.

Step 1 — Prepare Your Pixnub CSV

  • Ensure your CSV is correctly formatted using Pixnub’s instructions.

  • You don’t need to change column headers or structure for Snapizzi—just use the file exactly as Pixnub’s guide specifies.

  • Cell A1 must contain the word SPA.

  • Layer names for text replacement must be ALL CAPS with no spaces in your PSD file.

  • Layer names must match one of the designated SPA text layer names—you can’t use custom layer names.

Best Practices for Pixnub CSV Files

To avoid formatting issues when using your CSV with Pixnub, we recommend the following:

Use Separate Columns

  • Use separate firstname and lastname columns

  • Avoid combining names into a single field like "Smith, John"

Avoid Commas in Filenames

Pixnub treats commas as field separators, so values like:

Smith,John.png

—even if wrapped in quotes—will break parsing. Instead, use:

Smith_John.png

Use Standard Text in Optional Fields

Fields like notes are fine to contain commas, as long as they’re not parsed by Pixnub. However, for extra safety, avoid using symbols like ,, ;, or : in fields that Pixnub reads directly (like filenames, layers, or template names).

Step 2 — Create Your Snapizzi Project

  1. In Snapizzi, create a new Data Project.

  2. Upload your Pixnub CSV file to the project and follow the steps to generate your camera cards.

  3. Photograph your project, then upload the images to Snapizzi for processing.

Step 3 — Export Data for Import to Pixnub

Once processing is complete in Snapizzi, request a Subject List. This file will include:

  • All of your original Pixnub data.

  • All Snapizzi‑generated project data.

✅ That’s it — you now have a properly formatted CSV to import to Pixnub.
